WELCOME to G-STAND’s on-line training site with materials for employees and volunteers of nonprofit organizations and local partners engaged in promoting affordable and workforce housing in Georgia!

To receive the greatest benefit from these materials, please take note of the following:

  1. Go to those topics that are of greatest interest to you and your organization as of now. This means you can skip sections of this training (referred to as “lessons”) to find hot-button information most relevant to address your needs. However, to get a broad overview of the subject matter, G-STAND encourages you to eventually read all of the lessons. You can find topics by looking at the Table of Contents for each of the training materials.

  2. Read over each lesson with an open mind to see if the ideas presented can be applied to you and your organization. You might find it necessary to think of your situation not as it is, but as it could become, so that you will not dismiss ideas as being irrelevant to you. Avoid the trap of saying to yourself, “we’ve tried that and it didn’t work,” or “that strategy only applies to the big guys rather than to our small community.” In other words, be flexible, stretch your mind to see if, under current circumstances, these concepts should be given serious consideration.

  3. After reading and thinking about each lesson, take the self-graded quiz found at the end. Your answers to these quizzes, known only to you, will test whether you grasped key points, and will reinforce your confidence in the direction you wish to take. These quizzes should not be confused with a final exam that will be offered at the end of each course. Passing the final exam entitles you to receive a certificate of completion indicating that you have been trained as a Nonprofit Development Leader. The final exams will be machine scored.

  4. Please remember that there are certain ground rules that form the basis of successful board development, fundraising, marketing, and people involvement that apply to all organizations. However, there may be specific peculiarities in your community that are not addressed in these training materials, since the information is general. You might also find that your experience has been different than what is presented. Use whatever works for you!

This on-line training is provided by the Georgia State Trade Association of Nonprofit Developers (G-STAND) as a benefit for its members.
